What do we ask of Santa this year? We ask for something valuable and true. Something that reminds us that giving isn’t always easy, but it’s always worthwhile.

And so our first advice this season is to rise above and find what’s important. Let us guide you to events worth attending, special stores worth visiting, welcoming tables worth reserving. Our theme: focus on what’s local, respect quality, celebrate community, neighbors, family.

In “Finding Santa in the Brandywine Valley” we lead you to the places and events that can only be found in County Lines country. “Merry Metamorphosis” reminds us that while some plans may be filled with folly, we can find a silver lining. And “Walkable West Chester” gives a glimpse of a few of the newest shops and restaurants in this perfect town for the holidays. “A Youthful Glance” teaches that some of the best gifts are time spent together. And we give you the scoop on the “Green Choice: Fireplace Logs or Natural Wood?”

Finally, we offer thanks to our loyal readers and advertisers. We thank you for your support through another year and offer you our traditional toast: May your holidays twinkle with light and laughter. May planes, trains, and traffic steal not a moment from gatherings with friends and family. May the snows be neither too soon, too late, nor too deep. May your meals be hearty and gifts treasured. And may your lips never want for a good toast. Happy holidays!

For many, the holidays inspire us to think about what’s important — family, friends, happiness and health. And in the swirl of activities, these things can get lost. Step away from the chaos and go to a place where the food is fresh and real. At The Mediterranean you’ll always find the same high quality food that the chef serves his own family — homemade pasta, fresh seafood from the wild, free-range beef, farmers’ market vegetables. Food the way it’s supposed to be grown, and meals the way they were once cooked. Celebrate the season by joining the “Fresh Food Movement.” Open Tues-Sat. 150 W. Gay St. 610-431-7074.
